Mendocino Wool and Fiber Inc. is a wool mill in Ukiah, CA.
It is our mission to make beautiful yarn and crafting fiber and to support a strong sustainable local economy.
Super rare Navajo Churro and Jacob sheep are bred with Shetland sheep to create a hardworking 3 ply. This special yarn is from Dark Star Oaks Ranch in Laytonville, and we have a limited amount each year.
Developed here in the Western United States for this region Targhee is a special wool breed that thrives in California pastures. The wool is soft and crimpy with unbelievable energy and bounce in yarn made from it. Our Targhee comes from a family farm in Anderson Valley that has been raising sheep for over 100 years.
Recipe 2 is made up of three of our favorite breeds of wool. We took gorgeous Romney grown on a family farm on the Mendocino County Coast, with all its saturated color, the soft crimpiness of Targhee and the length and drape of Corriedale and blended them all together for a yarn that has amazing depth of color in its range of warm greys.
